The course focuses on emergency scenarios that are faced by professionals, including teachers, au pairs and playgroup leaders, looking after young children.

It can be used as evidence for employees working towards an NVQ in Childcare and Education and is a useful course for anyone working with young children.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:

This course is for people working with younger children – those up to eight years old – or working towards an NVQ in Childcare and Education.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:

The course covers how to deal with accidents and emergencies involving young children.

Assessment and certification: Continuous assessment.  Skills final assessment is available for those working towards a NVQ in childcare.

Cost: £160 per delegate

Course duration: 12 hours

  • Contents of first aid kit
  • Treatment of the unconscious casualty/resuscitation
  • Choking
  • Major illnesses such as asthma and diabetes
  • Head injuries
  • Seizures
  • Severe bleeding
  • Burns and scalds
  • Sprains/strains/fractures
  • Foreign objects/poisoning
  • Bites and stings
  • Recognising childhood conditions such as measles and meningitis
